Thirteen votes in favor and two abstentions, namely Russia and China, who did not veto: the resolution of the so-called “peace plan” desired by American President Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip was approved by the UN Security Council. The proposal involves the deployment of international troops in the Palestinian territories. For days, the United States has warned of the risk that, if the UN does not give the green light to such action, the conflict will resume with renewed intensity in the Palestinian territories. Although the Palestinian National Authority supported the resolution, Hamas condemned it, deploring the text that “does not respond to the political and human rights needs” of the Palestinian people.
