A two year old girl died suddenly in Feltre hours after being released from the hospital, where his parents had taken him concerned about some strange respiratory symptoms. According to local media reports, the little girl – who had been experiencing breathing problems for several days – he had been visited at the Santa Maria del Prato emergency room and, after a series of examinations, the pediatrician on duty found no serious critical problems, thus sending him home with therapy to follow and instructions to monitor his situation closely.
However, a few hours later, “the little girl became very distressed, suffered a sudden and severe illness and died in the arms of her family”. Despite immediate intervention from 118, nothing could be done for the little girl. The news left the Borgo Valbelluna community, where the family is well known, shocked.
“The company Ulss 1 Dolomiti will investigate this tragedy and the factors that may have caused it. The hospital management issued a short statement full of emotional participation: ‘We are deeply affected and saddened by the loss of the little girl – they wrote – We can only express our condolences to the family and confirm that an internal investigation has been initiated aimed at detailing the event and the possible clinical causes of death'”, they concluded.
