Leader of the FdI group in the Chamber Galeazzo Bignami asks the Presidency of the Republic to deny the news published by ‘La Verità’ about ‘Quirinale’s plan to stop Meloni’, Colle’s response is harsh: ‘This is very ridiculous’
Bignami asked for a denial of the news stating that the head of state’s advisers “hope for initiatives against President Giorgia Meloni and the center-right wing, also expressing an assessment of incompetence towards the majority of the current government”.
“In particular – adds the leader of the Prime Minister’s party – La Verità reports in detail a conversation in which this person hopes for the creation of an alternative coalition such as a ‘large national civil list’, with the stated aim of preventing the victory of the center-right and Giorgia Meloni in the next political elections. Projects that would reach even further levels – underlines Bignami – expect a ‘big jolt’ against the current government”.
“We believe that this reconstruction will be rejected without delay out of respect for the important role it holds, otherwise it will have to conclude its validity” was Bignami’s request.
In Quirinale, in response, “there was astonishment at the statements of the leader of the group in the House of the party of the relative majority which seemed to give credence to another attack on the Presidency of the Republic that was building close to the ridiculous”.
In an article in La Verità, signed by director Maurizio Belpietro, Francesco Saverio Garofani, a former member of parliament from the Democratic Party, is named as one of Mattarella’s “advisors who appear to be restless in the hope of trapping Giorgia Meloni and preventing her from reaching the end of her mandate and running again in 2027.
“There are those who imagine a moderate center-left candidate trying to repeat the success of 1996 with Prodi – wrote Belpietro – The operation, regardless of who leads it, would nevertheless involve the dissolution of the center-right coalition to bring the center-leaning part into the arms of the comrades”.
“Apparently – continues Belpietro – we are talking about the ‘list of great national civil servants’, a re-edition of Ulivo. But this may not be enough so that Mattarella’s adviser, Francesco Saverio Garofani, calls fate: ‘A year and a half is not enough to find someone who can defeat the center-right, it would require an extraordinary shock’, whispers the man from the Hill”, concludes Belpietro.
