Artificial intelligence is now taking an increasingly central role, with implications affecting most sectors, economies and societies with associated risks and opportunities that must be studied and analyzed in all their dynamics, through an interdisciplinary approach. The Higher Education course “Artificial intelligence between the crisis of democracy and its impact on the economy and society” organized by the Department of economic methods and models, territory and finance of the Faculty of Economics of the Sapienza University of Rome is based on these premises.
The course starts on December 5th
The course will take place online with workshops that can also be attended in person, and will start on December 5 (for information see Artificial Intelligence between the democratic crisis and the impact on the economy and society | Sapienza University of Rome website.
Objective
The aim is to equip participants with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to understand, manage and apply digital innovation processes and artificial intelligence in public and private contexts, with special attention to institutions, the world of education and research, and the production sector. Specifically, the course aims to “provide a solid cultural and technical foundation regarding key artificial intelligence technologies, their applications and ethical, social and legal implications.” But also to analyze digital innovation models in public and private contexts, with a focus on institutional transformation strategies, digitalization of services, and the role of AI in simplifying administration.

The various modules will cover interventions by political, economic, institutional and communications figures, thereby providing participants with a wealth of knowledge that will enable participants to understand the theoretical foundations and applications of artificial intelligence, including key algorithms, machine learning models and areas of use in the public and private sectors. It will thus be possible to critically analyze emerging digital technologies, evaluate the innovative potential and organizational, social and economic impact, recognize and apply regulatory and ethical principles related to the use of AI and data, with special reference to the European Regulation on AI (AI Act), GDPR and the Interpretation of algorithmic transparency expenditure.
AI Opportunities
In addition, the course aims to offer the most appropriate tools to effectively communicate the opportunities and limitations of AI to a wide range of interlocutors (decision makers, colleagues, citizens, students), developing a conscious and critical vision of technological transformation. And to collaborate in multidisciplinary and inter-institutional contexts, contributing to the spread of a culture of innovation that is sustainable, inclusive and oriented towards the common good. Taking part in the Master are teachers from Sapienza, the world of work and AI, financial figures, parliamentary institutions, journalists, entrepreneurs, experts from various sectors.
