As announced by the Australian cycling association AusCycling, Paige Greco died in her homeland last Sunday (16 November). The Associated Press news agency confirmed the news on Monday (November 17), citing a joint statement by the Australian Paralympic Committee and the national cycling federation. It said Greco had “passed away at his home in Adelaide following a sudden medical event” the day before.
Paige Greco suffers from cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a group of diseases associated with movement disorders and muscle stiffness (spasticity). It is caused by brain abnormalities that occur during prenatal brain development or brain damage before, during, or immediately after birth.

But Paige Greco isn’t letting that stop her from her dreams and goals. At the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, he won gold in the 3,000 meter individual distance running event and even broke the world record with a time of 3:50.815 minutes.

He was unable to compete at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris for health reasons, but in his comeback this year he won a bronze medal in the road race at the Para-Cycling World Championships in Belgium. In August, three months ago.
