Fossil fuel funerals at COP30, in images

Belém do Pará witnessed a massive intervention that marked one of the most influential moments of COP30: the funeral of fossil fuels. With giant coal, oil and gas coffins, dozens of artists and the presence of indigenous peoples from across the region, the action organized by the Alianza Potência Energética and the People’s Dome burst onto the political agenda of the summit. The gesture strengthened the call to stop oil exploration in the Amazon and to accelerate the progressive elimination of the fossil matrix, underlining a key fact of these negotiations: the Global South is dictating the course of the climate debate.
