Superstar LeBron James has ruled out participation in the next Olympics scheduled for 2028 in Los Angeles, as has his Team USA teammate Stephen Curry, who has left the door slightly open. The two players won together, as leaders of the American fleet, Olympic gold medals in Paris, defeating hosts France in a memorable final last year.
LeBron James and Steph Curry on playing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles:
LBJ: “You already know my answer. I’ll be watching from Cabo.”
SC: “Never say never, but I highly doubt it.”
LBJ: “We can’t top what we just did.”

Los Angeles Lakers senior James, who will turn 43 during the Olympics, emphasized that there is no chance of seeing him at the Olympic tournament in the Angel City. Speaking on the “Mind the Game” podcast he co-hosts with former star point guard Steve Nash that aired Tuesday, James, who is preparing to play his 23rd NBA season, said he plans to watch the Olympics from afar.
“You already know my answer (…) Don’t ask again. I’ll be watching from Cabo… it’s over,” he said, dismissing the idea of taking part in the next Olympics.
Also participating in the podcast, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was less categorical without completely ruling out making his final campaign with Team USA. If he participates in the Los Angeles Olympics, he will be 40 years old.
“Never say never, but I highly doubt it,” explained the playmaker who played a big role in America’s victory in the final against French phenom Victor Wembanyama (98-87).
