1. FC Magdeburg: Mathisen plans for turnaround in Düsseldorf | sport

These numbers don’t lie!

That 1.FC Magdeburg had the least dangerous offense (only 9 goals in 12 games) in the 2nd league – and with 22 goals conceded was also the third worst defense.

In defense, the complete core trio were missing recently: Jean Hugonet (25/torn inner ligament), Daniel Heber (31/torn muscle bundle) and Tobias Müller (31/ankle). Anyway: Müller trained again on Tuesday.

Only defender Marcus Mathisen (29) has started all competitive games so far: “It’s a shame that all three are out almost at the same time. Of course it’s a positive when you have a big squad. But it doesn’t get any easier when you have to play with different people next to you every time.”

Mathisen sees no quality problems in his squad

After three days off, FCM began preparing for the basement duel on Tuesday Düsseldorf (Saturday, 1pm).

Danish player: “It’s nice to be with the family and clear your head. But in our situation, the most important thing is to train and regain confidence. Most importantly, we need goals – without goals you can’t win games. It’s probably a bit of a mental problem, because I’m sure we have the same quality as last year.”

FCM will want to mark the turnaround with a win in Düsseldorf. Mathisen: “Our confidence is there. We have to go all out. The pressure at home is greater for Fortuna than for us. And if we perform like we did in Paderborn or Darmstadt (0-1 and 0-0, editor), we will win this game.”
