In Biase (Pd), ‘today an important step has been taken’ – Il Tempo

Rome, 19 November (Adnkronos) – “Today we have taken a decisive step. The approval in the Assembly of the law introducing the principle of consent in the crime of sexual violence is an achievement of great civilization and personal emotion. Being able to contribute to the writing of this law, the result of serious cooperation, which saw the interaction of different political forces, means finally giving our country an instrument that truly protects women, placing freedom and self-determination at its center.” Deputy PD Michela Di Biase, the rapporteur for the action in the DPR, wrote about it on social media.

“This was a cultural revolution, even before the legal revolution: it recognized that consent must be free and current, and that a woman’s body and will are never negotiable. The path now continues in the Senate, but today we have taken a historic step. For all the women who dared to come forward. For those who did not believe. For those who did not succeed. For future generations. For all of them: without consent, it is rape”, she concluded.
