Lebanon: The Israeli army claims to have carried out attacks on Hezbollah in the South

Return of war? The Israeli army announced this Wednesday afternoon that it carried out attacks on what it considers to be military installations of the Lebanese Shia movement Hezbollah in southern Lebanon after calling for the evacuation of two villages in this region. “The IDF is currently attacking several Hezbollah terrorist infrastructures in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli army said in a military statement.

Attack with United States approval

Despite a ceasefire that took effect in November 2024, after more than a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, the Israeli army continues to carry out, with the tacit approval of the United States, regular attacks in Lebanon against what they consider to be members or groups of the Shiite movement, which they accuse of seeking to rebuild its military capabilities.

Hezbollah, an ally of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Israel’s archenemy, has been severely weakened by the latest war with Israel, and Washington has stepped up pressure in recent weeks on the Lebanese government to disarmament, but the Islamist movement is currently refusing to do so.
