“I saw his eyes broken”: mother of 4-year-old Nino and TikTok star, slams the theft of her Pokémon card binder

“That’s his passion, his pride, his own little world,” wrote Nino’s mother on Instagram Monday, November 17 evening. He reported that his 4-year-old son had been the victim of a theft earlier in the day in Grenoble, while he was on the tram with him: the boy’s Pokémon binder was stolen, the apple of his eye.

“He took the binder from her hand”

“We took the tram with Nino to pick up the package, then continued our journey to school. A little escape from everyday life with my 4-year-old and his 1-month-old little brother. (…) Nino had taken his Pokémon card binder, his absolute treasure, to show his new acquisition to his friend Émile,” said the mother. He would have preferred the binder to stay at home, but at his son’s urging, he gave in.

While his son was quietly leafing through his binder, engrossed in his cards, “a young man, (…) probably in his twenties, approached and took the binder from his hands before disappearing as quickly as he had come”. It was impossible for mother to catch the thief. She watched, helplessly, her son’s anguish: “I saw his eyes burst.”

Collecting Pokémon cards is a real business, so rare items can sell for thousands of euros. Even so, Nino’s mother did not understand how someone could attack a child.

“He’s going to be so spoiled.”

The little boy’s misfortune sparked a lot of reaction, and a real outpouring of solidarity. It must be said that Nino is not an unknown person: he shares his love of Pokémon cards with 1,250 people on Instagram and 4,290 on TikTok, where he shows off his card collection.

Therefore, David Lafarge, who made himself known thanks to his videos on Pokémon cards, reacted: “This is clearly unacceptable, incredible courage. Little Nino welcome to my YouTube space and I have a great gift for him.”

Nino’s mother would like to thank all those who have provided support, even more so to her son, especially on TikTok, in a story : “Hello, thanks to Nino, thanks for the support guys! We have received so many requests to send items/cards to Nino that it would be inappropriate to receive them. He is already going to be so spoiled. Thank you so much for your advice, it touches our hearts.”
