He was “dazed”. Two days after the death of a 4-year-old girl, victim of “infanticide” in the family apartment, located in Montrottier (Rhône) west of Lyon, the circumstances of the tragedy have become clearer, according to our colleagues from Le Progrès.

According to our information, the child’s body was found lying on the bed with a pillow on his face on Monday night by the police. The victim came to the scene after receiving information by telephone.

This telephone call was made by another resident of the building. “My neighbor rang my doorbell” before 8 p.m., he told our colleagues. “He first told me: come help me “, he continued, admitting he “found it very strange”. “He told me: I killed my daughter », added this neighbor.

After alerting emergency services and the police, the neighbor asked his mother several times: “what happened?” “. But the woman was “confused”.

“He was lost. When the police arrived, he couldn’t give his name,” he recalled. Inside the building, this neighbor was the only one who had contact with the mother, who was under psychiatric care, and even looked after the little girl from time to time.

Based on initial medical findings, the little girl died of suffocation. The mother, who was suspected of being the perpetrator, was immediately arrested and detained by the police. But the measures were “revoked in the evening after a medical examination revealed that his state of health was not compatible with continuing” his interrogation, the Lyon prosecutor’s office said, noting that he had been hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital.

The investigation, opened into the “intentional murder of a minor”, ​​carried out by police from the Arbresle (Rhône) research brigade, must “determine the circumstances and motives of these facts”, added the prosecutor.
