Behind the murder of Mehdi Kessaci, traces of “Mamine”, the formidable leader of DZ Mafia

He was France’s most sensitive prisoner but few knew his true identity and journey. The mere mention of his pseudonyms – “Mamine” or even “Jalisco” and “Nemesio”, referring to the Mexican cartel – is enough to inspire terror, as he is believed to have the capacity to execute anyone from his cell. At the age of 31, Amine O., born in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), was suspected of being the actual operational leader of the DZ Mafia in France, a group of drug traffickers historically originating from Marseille who, through extreme violence, tried to become a transnational mafia criminal organization.

This Tuesday, November 18, the inmate was transferred secretly, under reinforced guard by the GIGN police, from the Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain) pre-prison detention center to the new district for combating organized crime (QLCO) in Condé-sur-Sarthe (Orne), the second ultra-secure prison envisioned by Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Justice.
