After Hamburger’s death Family While on holiday in Istanbul, Turkish media compared the fate of a German Erasmus student who died in Istanbul a year ago. The 21-year-old woman’s death was initially explained as food poisoning, the lawyer representing her family, Ekim Hakeri, told the German Press Agency. However, a forensic report published in August concluded that he may have been poisoned by bed bug pesticide.
The prosecutor’s office has started an investigation into this. A bed bug control agent was used on the first floor, converted to gas and spread throughout the building, the report said. The student lived on the second floor. According to the daily newspaper “Hürriyet”, the student is from Hamburg.

In a recent case Istanbul Authorities also initially assumed that the deceased Hamburg’s family had suffered from food poisoning. The initial report from Türkiye’s medical examiner’s office was made public on Tuesday. According to state broadcaster TRT, it said the deaths of the family of four were likely caused by chemical poisoning at the hotel.
The possibility of food poisoning is considered low. Before his death, chemicals were reportedly used to eradicate bedbugs at the family’s hotel in the Fatih district.
