Rome, November 19 (Adnkronos Health) – “Children between 8-9 years old who use technological devices from an early age, can be involved, either passively or actively, in various crimes. In particular, in the case of bullying and cyberbullying, there are children of the same age who frequently visit similar places and can become victims or perpetrators of aggression, often in the silence of their classmates.” Thus Barbara Strappato, first director of the National Police, spoke at the General States of Paediatrics 2025 on the theme ‘The digital child’, organized in the Senate by the Italian Society of Pediatrics (Sip) on the occasion of the World Day of Children and Adolescents.
“The spread of videos and content in school chats – explains Strappato – increases the emotional impact of this behavior and makes it difficult for children to talk about it with adults. The only thing a child should not do is keep negative or painful events to himself, as if they were a secret. Our task – he concludes – is to accompany them in telling what happened and make them understand that they should not keep negative or painful episodes to themselves”.
