Even though the vote was primarily indicative, it was clear: only the socialist deputies abstained, while all other groups opposed this part of the spending.

Same decision as in the “income” section. The deputies of the Finance Committee vehemently rejected, on Wednesday, November 19, the “expenditure” of the State budget, which had been exhaustively rewritten, and which would have no chance of being voted on in the hemicycle on the first reading before the text was passed to the Senate.

This vote is primarily indicative, as it is the government’s initial draft law that will enter the half-cycle stage, as is always the case with budget texts.

But the results of the vote were clear: only socialist MPs abstained, while all other groups opposed this part of the “fee”. Between advocates in the center and on the right of significant spending cuts, and advocates on the left of sufficient investment to be offset by additional revenue, the text was torn apart in committee. “Last copy makes no sense”complained general budget reporter Philippe Juvin (LR).

On the balance sheet, some major credits are rejected pure and simple, “eight” according to vice president Daniel Labaronne (Renaissance) at the opening of the session, specifically citing those dedicated to“agriculture”there “culture”I“ecology”to “justice” or to “health”. “This copy completely misses the point, we need to control public spending”criticized his bandmate Paul Midy.

“We are destroying parliamentary democracy”worried Charles de Courson (Liot). Eric Coquerel (LFI), commission president, explained “a strange democracy that means that we can study a bill from the start only in a minority”without Parliament actually having to do so “the means” from “change it like in other countries in the world”.

The spending vote risks being the only one read in the Assembly, as debate in the half-cycle was still stuck on the “revenue” portion of the budget on Wednesday, with more than a thousand amendments to be vetted before Sunday evening.
