After a sunny start to the week, especially in the mountains, it will probably snow today in many places in the lowlands – although sleet is likely. Wet snowfall and sleet are expected from the High Rhine and the Alps to the Baltic Sea, as announced by the German Weather Service (DWD).
However, it was still winter, especially in the mountains. Above 300 to 500 meters, fresh snow is expected to fall throughout the day. According to DWD, up to 20 centimeters of new snow is possible in the Black Forest.

Frost and slush pose a risk of slippery conditions
The weather got very cold in the morning, especially in the south from the edge of the Alps to eastern Bavaria – but people in northwestern Germany should also prepare for sub-zero temperatures. If temperatures are very cold and there is more mud, there is a warning of slippery conditions.
