Formula 1: Las Vegas GP – Lewis Hamilton hits back at criticism from Ferrari boss John Elkann | sport

Lewis Hamilton hits the brakes!

The seven-time world champion is now dominating the headlines formula 1 – however, not as he has done for years, as he rushes from one victory to another, but because it just doesn’t happen. According to the British driver’s own statements, the British driver’s debut season at Ferrari was a “nightmare”. Hamilton has not won any of his 21 Grands Prix so far and is only sixth in the World Drivers’ Championship. Too little to meet the demands of the superstar and his racing team!

After the Brazilian Grand Prix a week and a half ago, this is no longer a secret to the public. Ferrari boss John Elkann (49) deals with Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc (28) after a disappointing weekend (both Scuderia cars retired).

Italian: “If you look at the Formula 1 championship, our mechanics practically win the championship – with their performance and everything done during the pit stops. Our engineers have undoubtedly improved the car. But in other areas we are still not at the required level.”

Meaning the Ferrari drivers. Elkann continued: “Of course we have drivers who have to concentrate more on driving and less on talking. There are still important races ahead and it is not impossible to achieve second place in the constructors’ championship. That is the most important message.” Verbal slap in the face of Hamilton and Leclerc!

According to Hamilton, this did not break the relationship. The record Formula 1 champion commented on Elkann’s criticism for the first time ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix (Sunday, 5am German time, Sky and RTL). British: “John and I have a good relationship, we talk on the phone almost every week.” However, he did not want to answer how he felt about the criticism.

But he still sent hidden messages. When Hamilton was asked about his debut season and how satisfied he was, he replied: “Sometimes I still have to try hard to realize that I’m driving for Ferrari. It feels almost romantic when I come to the factory. I don’t think I’ve ever been to any factory as often as I visited this one. I’m completely focused on my job. I can’t think about driving anymore. When I wake up, I think about it, and when I go to sleep, I do too. I even dream about it.”
