50 years have passed since Franco’s death and with it since the beginning of democracy in Spain. Several digital platforms have prepared preview and exclusive content that analyzes various aspects around this anniversary. In this list we make a selection of the most notable ones.

‘The photo’, on RTVE Play

RTVE Play maintains in its free catalog this documentary which drove the audience of La 1 a couple of weeks ago. The photo tells the story behind the image that took nearly a decade to publish. That of Franco on the verge of death, surrounded by cars and lying in a bed at the La Paz hospital in Madrid. It was a political and social scandal in 1984. Directed by Belén Alonso, Manu Diéguez and Diego Ceberio, it collects testimonies from experts and close witnesses on the hidden lies of what were the last days of the dictator.

‘The Four Wounds’, on SER Podcast

All chapters of this are available now podcasts in which David Uclés analyzes the Spanish civil war from a practically dreamlike point of view. The four woundsfrom SER Podcast, can be understood as a spiritual extension of his book The peninsula of empty housesbut it’s much more than that. Without an established path, the writer talks with all kinds of people, from journalists to historians, high school students and ordinary citizens, about the consequences of the Spanish Civil War on today’s society.

‘Karambolage: The Valley of the Fallen’, in ART

Karambolagethe classic format of the European public channel ARTE which reveals historical curiosities and discards urban legends about a specific culture, dedicates one of its chapters to 20-N in its Spanish version. A large cross and a mausoleum erected on a rock is what the Franco-German Fabian Erik Schlüter found on his trip to Madrid. This visit inspires the animated short film which, in less than four minutes, analyzes the monument from the inside, which overwhelms you with its size and also the story behind its construction. ‘Franco and Hollywood’, on History Channel

Starting from Thursday evening, November 20, the AMC Selekt platform will include two History Channel contents in its catalog, available on Prime Video. one of them is Franco, the last dictator of European in-depth look at the leader’s rise to power and consolidation of his rule over nearly four decades through never-before-seen archives and testimonies from people who lived during that period. The second title is Franco and Hollywood, documentary that reveals how the regime used the American film industry in the 1950s and 1960s as a powerful international propaganda tool and economic engine.
