Unknown people have stolen a valuable bronze bell from a church in Bremen. The perpetrators returned after the first failed attempt and completed the heist.
The 300 kilogram bronze bell was stolen from church property in the Vahr district of Bremen on Tuesday evening. Police estimate the value of the stolen goods at around 10,000 euros.
The perpetrator had tried to steal the bell two weeks earlier. During the alleged “welding operation,” they removed the bell mount. It then falls and rings. A church employee who lives nearby saw the incident, and the thieves initially ran away.
However, the foreigners did not allow themselves to be dissuaded from their plans. On Tuesday night they came back and stole all the bells. Police are now looking for witnesses and asking for information regarding suspicious vehicles in the area.
