Bandecchi presses government: “Nuclear is important for Italy”

Stefano Bandecchi (pictured), businessman, sports manager, mayor of Terni and now gubernatorial candidate in the regional elections in Campania with the «Dimensione Bandecchi» list, discussed Palazzo Chigi with a topic close to his heart: energy. “I’m a convinced nuclear expert,” he explains. «I believe that the return to use of nuclear energy is an important strategic choice for Italy: it serves to guarantee autonomy, stability and sustainable tariffs». The analysis is as follows: «Our country consumes large amounts of electricity every day, but the national energy mix is still very fragile: most of the production still comes from fossil sources (gas and oil), while renewable energies account for a smaller share, although it is clearly increasing».

And again: «It is absurd that Italy, despite being surrounded by countries where nuclear power is a consolidated reality, is still unable to exploit this technology on its own territory, buying energy produced by nuclear power from neighboring countries at very high prices. I ask the government to speed up the return to construction of new power plants.”
