The death of a 33-year-old man killed this summer in Chiclana occurred during a marijuana robbery | Spain

The death of a 33-year-old man which occurred in the early hours of August 8 in a house in Chiclana (Cadiz) already has an explanation from the police. The Civil Guard reported the arrest this Tuesday of five people linked to the crime, which occurred in front of the deceased’s partner, 19, and his two young children. The arrestees went to the home to try to steal a “significant amount” of marijuana that they believed was unattended.

The incident occurred at five in the morning on Friday. Seven people entered the house, located on the Camino de la Perdiz, “with extreme violence”. They aimed to locate a quantity of marijuana and at a certain point several shots were fired from at least two weapons. One of them hit the owner of the house causing his immediate death, in front of his children and his partner. During the escape, the attackers stole a car and took away two large bags.

The investigation, called Operation Aguileo, took three months to reconstruct what happened that night. Those responsible for the crime are an organization that moved from the outskirts of Seville after receiving information that they could have stored drugs in that poorly protected house. The group had divided functions: the Puerto Serrano side captured information; others who finished confirming the information, observed and followed the target; and the third group took up the assault.

The crimes against persons and homicide team of the Civil Guard of Cadiz, in charge of the investigation, collected “numerous evidence” in 15 house searches carried out in Puerto Serrano (Cádiz) and in the Sevillian cities of Guillena, Alcalá del Río, Carmona and the capital Seville.

The five detainees are charged with the crimes of murder, membership of a criminal association, illegal possession of weapons and robbery with violence in an inhabited home. The operation remains open and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
