The former Bayern star is currently in the MLS playoffs with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Now he’s revealing details about daily life with his teammates – and it’s clear.

Thomas Müller has been playing in Canada since the summer – and has quickly taken a central role in the team structure. In addition to his sporting achievements, he also attracts attention off the field for the Vancouver Whitecaps.

“I give teams more truth between the lines than they usually and sometimes want,” the 2014 world champion told “Kicker.” The former Bayern professional lamented: “The players are very nice to each other here, sometimes too nice on the pitch for my taste.” With her forthright attitude, she wants to show “that you can be kind and still clearly address things that need to be done better.”

Müller joined the Whitecaps in the summer after leaving FC Bayern Munich. In ten competitive games for the Canadian club, he has so far scored nine goals and four assists – and has therefore exceeded his own expectations: “I didn’t have high expectations in terms of goals. I have definitely exceeded them. Of course I’m happy with the goals, but most importantly I’m happy with the team’s success,” said Müller.

Anything is still possible for the Whitecaps ahead of the playoff duel against Los Angeles FC on Saturday (local time). The winner then advances to the Western Conference finals. Then the final against the Eastern Conference’s best club awaits. The Whitecaps are still three wins away from the Major League Soccer championship.
