Vilaplana was able to finish his date with Mazón at 7:47 p.m., according to parking records provided to Judge Dana | News from the Valencian Community

Maribel Vilaplana, the journalist who had lunch with Carlos Mazón on the afternoon of October 29, 2024, when the disaster occurred that caused 229 deaths in Valencia, was able to conclude her appointment with the current interim president of the Generalitat that day at 7.47 pm. after removing his vehicle from a central city car park at the time. Mazón arrived at the emergency center (Cecopi) only at 8.28pm, more than 15 minutes after the massive alert message had been sent to the population on the dana.

This new time arises from the cross-referencing of the data that the journalist presented in court during her deposition on November 3 with the list of releases that the company that manages the garage in Plaza de Tetuán in Valencia, Interparking Hispania SA, provided information to the judge of Catarroja (Valencia) investigating the tragedy, Nuria Ruiz Tobarra.

The journalist claimed in court – where she appeared as a witness with the obligation to tell the truth – that on the day of the storm she had arrived at the El Ventorro restaurant around 3pm. The Excel delivered by the company that manages the car park reports the departure of a vehicle at 7.47pm, which paid 15.10 euros. This amount equates to just over five hours, according to rates published on the Interparking Hispania website for its 24-hour Glorieta establishment. With this information, the driver of the vehicle reportedly left the car in the garage around 2.45pm. This possibility would mean that Vilaplana and Mazón spent an hour walking the 10-minute walk that separates El Ventorro from the garage, as the journalist stated that they spent almost four hours in the establishment (3:00-6:45 pm).

Log analysis parking It also offers two other possibilities. The first passes through a vehicle that left at 7.12pm, which paid 19.20 euros and, therefore, had been parked for more than six hours, so it would have arrived before 2pm. And the second, that of a car collected at 7.18pm, whose driver paid 17.55 euros and would also have arrived before 2pm.

As the journalist declared in court that, on the day of the tragedy, she had finished a course in Almussafes (Valencia) at 1.30 pm. and that, after finishing each class he teaches, he usually spends some time writing down the day’s notes. These last two options seem very remote, as it takes about 40 minutes by car from that city to Valencia.

Confirmation of the exact time of removal of the vehicle from Vilaplana will be made known in the coming days. The company that manages the car park responded to the court that, with the data provided by the journalist, the license plate, it cannot answer when it removed her vehicle. He claims that his computer program “automatically” deletes license plates every year and that images of cars entering and leaving are deleted from the system every month. The judge asked this company for parking data on November 6, a week after the anniversary of the accident.

Since Interparking SA claims that, if the parking had not been paid for in cash, it would be possible to know when the vehicle was removed through the card reference, the investigator asked the journalist for this information on Wednesday.

The judge’s move to clarify what time the informant removed her vehicle comes after Vilaplana’s statement. In court, the communicator said she was missing the establishment’s ticket and offered to give the judge her license plate number.

The journalist changed her version of the dinner she had with Mazón three times while the worst catastrophe of the century raged. In November 2024 he said he said goodbye to the president at 5.45pm In an open letter last September, he made this clear an hour later. And finally, after learning that the judge was calling her as a witness, she leaked that the popular baron had accompanied her to the parking lot to collect his car.
