Moscow has not received any information from the US through official channels regarding the peace plans in Ukraine reported by some international media. This was stated by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharovato the Rbc newspaper. The spokesman, RBC added, said that “if the American side has a proposal, they will communicate it through the channels used between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries”, but Moscow’s Foreign Ministry “he received nothing similar from the Department of State.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also stated this “every moment is the best for a peaceful settlement, for a resolution through peaceful political-diplomatic means” of the conflict in Ukraine, and “Russia continues to remain open to this solution”. The spokesman, quoted by the Interfax news agency, did not comment, as of yesterday, on the alleged 28-point US peace plan. “We have no news, I have nothing to add to what has already been said,” he said.
The American Secretary of State intervened in the peace plan Marco Rubio stated that it was necessary “both sides accepted difficult but necessary concessions”. “Ending a complex and deadly war like the one in Ukraine requires – said Rubio – a serious and realistic exchange of ideas. And achieving lasting peace will require both sides to accept difficult but necessary concessions. That is why we developed and will continue to develop a list of potential ideas for ending this war, based on the contributions of both parties involved in the conflict.”
“We support just and lasting peace but at every level, to work, Europe and Ukraine must join in”. The one above says so EU Representative Kaja Kallas arrived at the foreign affairs council, stating that he was “unaware” of European involvement in the preparation of the US peace plan.
“We Europeans always support lasting and just peace and welcome all efforts to achieve it. Of course, for any plan to succeed, this is essential. Ukrainian and European involvement is necessary. This is very clear,” he said. “Also, we have to understand that in this war there are attackers and victims. We have not heard of any concessions from the Russian side. If Russia really wanted peace, they could have agreed to an unconditional ceasefire long ago. On the other hand, tonight we also witnessed the bombing of civilians. 93% of Russia’s targets are civilian infrastructure – schools, hospitals, apartment blocks – to kill as many people as possible and cause as much suffering as possible. And this is our position.”
“We want a just and lasting peace, to prevent new aggression by Russia. In this spirit, we continue to support Ukraine with a financing plan based on reparations loans and military cooperation.” he said French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived at the foreign affairs council. “However, peace does not mean surrender: Ukraine, which has fought heroically for three years, will reject any kind of surrender”, he added. “We must start with a ceasefire on the lines of contact, and then carry out negotiations, even in the region, the only one who refuses is Putin”.
The “alleged peace plan”, discussed between the United States and Russia, this cannot be achieved “with the support of Ukraine and the European UnionThis was conveyed by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, upon his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, as reported by public broadcaster TVE. “Any credible, just and lasting peace proposal will be supported by the EU, but this must start with an unconditional ceasefire. From the ideas I have heard, none of this is being discussed,” Albares said, referring to the 28-point plan Washington and Moscow are working on. The head of Spanish diplomacy stressed that the peace plan “cannot be carried out behind the back of Kiev”, whose sovereignty is represented by Zelensky’s government.
“Believing that time is on Ukraine’s side is an illusion and the Brussels elite, including the High Representative, lives in this illusion.”. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said this when arriving at the foreign affairs council. “Russia is increasingly advancing, occupying more territory, and these sanctions have not made its economy suffer at all,” he added. “Now we have to stop funding Ukraine, where the war mafia is in power, and the fact that Commission President Ursula von der Leyen sent a letter asking member states to provide more than 100 billion euros without mentioning corruption in Ukraine is crazy, a scandal,” he commented.
According to what was revealed yesterday by Axios, citing American and Russian leaders, the Trump administration has been quietly developing, in consultation with Moscow and apparently excluding Europe and Kiev itself, 28-point peace plan for Ukraine. The plan calls for Kiev to cede parts of eastern Ukraine it does not currently control to Moscow and reduce its military numbers, in exchange for unspecified US security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe against future Russian aggression.
Sky News reported an interesting detail from yesterday when Axios first broke the news that the US was developing a 28-point peace plan in Ukraine in quiet talks with Russia. Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff wrote and promptly deleted a post about Xwhich probably should have been a private message. “He must have received it from K…” wrote Witkoff, in
According to Sky News, the US envoy discussed Barak Ravid’s Axios article about the plan, and speculated about the journalist’s sources. Who is the letter “K” in Witkoff’s message? Perhaps, wrote Sky News, it was Kirill Dmitriev, became Putin’s envoy to Washington, essentially Witkoff’s Russian counterpart.
