A woman went on trial in early December for killing her own mother. The 42-year-old man is said to have strangled the 76-year-old man during an argument in Günzburg, Swabia, in April, the Memmingen regional court was told. The public prosecutor charged the defendant with manslaughter. The woman arranged her own arrest after the crime.
According to police, he himself called officers and stated that he might have killed his mother in an argument. Emergency services later found the 76-year-old woman dead and attempts to resuscitate her failed. His daughter was also there and was arrested without incident.
The trial at Memmingen regional court is scheduled to start on Tuesday, December 2. A decision will probably be taken a week later. The law provides for a prison sentence of not less than five years for manslaughter.
