A statue of Princess Diana, the first wife of the current King Charles III of England, has entered the Paris wax museum, Musée Grévin, in a replica of the famous ‘Revenge dress’, which Lady D wore one evening in June 1994, following Prince Charles’ confession of infidelity in his marriage. ”This bold look, in contrast to the British royal code, was quickly renamed the ‘Revenge Dress’ and interpreted as an act of self-reconquest, a powerful image of asserted femininity, rediscovered self-confidence and a symbol of resilience”, underlines the Musée Gévin, referring to the low-cut black dress designed by Christina Stambolian.

A wax statue of Lady D, who tragically died at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, is placed under the dome of the Paris museum, alongside figures such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Marie Antoinette, Chantal Thomass, Aya Nakamura and Lena Situations.
The unveiling coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the explosive interview that ‘Lady D’ gave to the BBC on 20 November 1995, when she said that ”there were three of us in that marriage”. Reference to Carlo’s lover, Camilla, destined to become his second wife.
