Rome, November 20 (Adnkronos) – “The support we have provided in recent years risks being lost if, in moments like these when American support is lacking, we retreat, hesitate, wait. All the other European countries, France, Germany, the Nordic countries, the Baltic Sea countries, find a quicker and more direct means of defending those under attack. Italy is missing.” That’s Lia Quartapelle, Representative of the Democratic Party and Deputy Chair of the Foreign Affairs Commission.
Meloni’s government “on the face of it supports Ukraine, but in reality, apart from a few exceptions such as Minister Crosetto, it is a very divided, very quarrelsome and very uncertain majority. Decisions on Ukraine slipped after the vote in the regional elections, as if there was no clear order of priorities. Add to this increasingly intermittent attacks on the Quirinale, on Prodi, tomorrow, who knows. This government should be the most stable government in Europe, which is asked to make the necessary decisions on how to to continue supporting Ukraine, and instead get lost in the attacks, the debate, and the uncertainty.
“We ask for clarity. We ask specifically that we can vote on renewing support as soon as possible. When you have to say yes or no, in the DPR there are no important gaps. The government has the necessary courage, clarity and transparency towards citizens to take decisions. We have been there, we are there and we will be there with those who are being attacked”, he concluded.
