Paco Maqueda was already working in his father’s marble workshop at the age of 14. Now, at the age of 65, he is not retiring but taking a different path.
Paco Maqueda (65) from Spain worked in the family business for 34 years – there, among other things, he helped polish worktops and wash basin models. He then founded his own renovation company and participated in other companies, for example a company specializing in church restoration, reports the portal “El Periodico”.
Now Maqueda is 65 years old and has not thought about retiring – but he is changing industries and says: “I am starting to live again.”
From handicrafts to holiday tourism – Maqueda is the host
“El Periodico” reported that Maqueda bought “several houses” in Sacedón. It is said that it will be used for family tourism and holidays. Sacedón is located in the province of Guadalajara and is a sparsely populated area with approximately 1,595 inhabitants.
This area is famous, among other things, for its scenic beauty, historical attractions and outdoor activities.
Self-employment in Spain – some people still have to work as they get older
A long working life does not guarantee a high pension, which is also the reason why some seniors look for other sources of income in Spain. Or continue working in the trades as you get older. This is what 75-year-old David did, for example. He is a self-employed plumber and will only receive a pension of 500 euros. He now works slower, but still reliable.
