Marini explained at the trial that the defendant first contacted his secretary and then met him. He has presented himself – as the actress explained at a previous hearing – as a film producer, with the aim of shooting a short film (“The Last Applause”, which will be distributed in 2016). «He stated that I could play a role and he would use Imaie funds for the project (joint agency for the protection of artists, ed.)». After filming for the video was completed, Milazzo contacted Orrù. The latter actually wanted to make changes to the final product because he was not satisfied with the results at the assembly stage. “After that – continued Marini when giving his testimony – he always took care of this because I was busy with other events. Together with him, Milazzo (assisted by lawyer Sergio Stravino, ed.) always behaved obediently and often contacted him to try to establish a working relationship, but he never presented himself as a financial intermediary.”
Only a few months later the defendant again met with the showgirl’s mother, but this time, instead of talking about films, he offered the 87-year-old man a financial investment. It started, according to what the victim reconstructed before the judge, with 10 thousand euros, loaded onto the cryptocurrency platform, via bank transfer in Milazzo. Then, in the following months, he stated that he had made other investments, always in the same way, reaching more than 300 thousand euros. Her daughter remained unaware of the situation.

«I discovered everything – he said – when my mother had invested 200 thousand euros. At first I didn’t know what he was suffering from, but I always saw him feeling sad and I immediately thought he had a health problem. Then he told me, but he hoped that the money would be returned especially for the sake of honor.” Gianna Orrù’s difficult time was going through which would also put a strain on her relationship with Valeria Marini. «My mother was ashamed because she had been cheated to the point of refusing to open the door for me. This person destroyed my mother.” Then his decision, in February 2020, was to report the film producer to the police. From there the investigation and then the start of the trial which began in March last year. Yesterday, with a first-degree conviction and a sentence of one year in prison, the first round of justice in this case closed. Meanwhile, Giuseppe Milazzo Andreani continues to claim his innocence. «I don’t know the facts – he told “Messeggero” – and I will prove it. The trial took place in the courtroom and not in the newspapers and in this case, there was exploitation of the story from the first day.” Defense lawyer Sergio Stravino announced that the trial would continue at the second instance. «The sentence cannot be commented on – specify the lawyer – they can appeal. I will appeal to show that the facts are not there.” And in any case, the crime will be determined in February.
