“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” drama avoided! Almost! Günther Jauch saved Johannes B. Kerner from falling
IT went well!
When Johannes B. Kerner asked for 64,000 euros and a reduced VAT rate to buy coffee, the quiz champion moderator was sure he knew the answer. So confident that even Günther Jauch had a lot of trouble persuading him to benefit the RTL telethon. He knew that Johannes was wrong in his assumptions and moved heaven and earth to save his candidate from falling, as shown in our video.
Günther Jauch waves to Johannes B. Kerner with a fence post
But let’s start with: It’s about coffee. More precisely, take-away coffee. “If a customer buys coffee to take to a cafe, a reduced VAT rate of 7% applies if… A: drink it straight away, B: contains more than 75% milk, C: colder than 50 °C, or D: prepared vegan?”
The candidate, Johannes B. Kerner, who was experienced in quizzing, had a tendency to answer A from the start. After all, he had often heard the question “Take out or eat here?” and he also knew that it had something to do with VAT. “If A is true, I can accept it,” he explained. Also when Günther Jauch said clearly: “Our question is not asked wrongly!”
Then Jauch joked emphatically: By definition, takeaway coffee is takeout coffee — “to-go coffee” and not “to-go coffee” — so Johannes B. Kerner’s favorite answer makes no sense. But his would-be celeb wanted to stick to his answer.
In Johannes B. Kerner, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” presenter Günther Jauch had a very difficult problem to solve

“We’ll call Mr. Schnoor. He sells coffee!”
This is discouraging. Especially since it’s about donating to a good cause. So what to do? “What kind of telephone joker do you have?” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” moderator Günther Jauch tried to save what could be saved. And then he boldly offered to his quiz partner, who was in danger of falling: “Should we replace the telephone joker?” Oh okay! THAT has never existed before! And Jauch also knows exactly who he’s going to use: “We’ll call Mr. Schnoor. He sells coffee!” That’s right, Ralf Schnoor should know. After all, he is the owner of the cafe and himself won a million dollars 15 years ago. Additionally, he is also available as a telephone comedian for these celebrity special events.

“John, stop now!” Comedian Till Reiners speaks out
But Mr. Kerner still has doubts. “If A is right, I’ll bite myself,” he countered the offer – and even went further: “Mr Jauch, even at the risk of embarrassing myself and looking immovable here… I’ll take A!” WHAT? “Oh Johannes, stop now!”Comedian Till Reiners exclaimed.

“Now stop it!” Katarina Witt and Till Reiners could no longer watch Johannes B. Kerner suffer misfortune

“I would have paid 10,000 euros out of my own pocket for the RTL telethon if I had been in the wrong place,” said the Quiz Champion moderator unfazed. But Till Reiners is also struggling to earn big money: “You have to be 64 years old… Really Johannes, Mr. Jauch can’t say anything more: NO. He’s under contract. Stop it!” And then – finally – insight. “I accept your offer“, explained Johannes B. Kerner to thunderous applause. Phew, THAT was almost wrong.
The whole drama can be watched in full in the video above – and you can see how Ralf Schnoor turned things around after he got out of bed.

That’s all: Answer B is correct: “If it contains more than 75% milk” – because milk is a staple food. And thanks to the persistence and creativity of Günther Jauch with the support of Till Reiners and Ralf Schnoor, Johannes B. Kerner did not fall back to 500 euros this time. He was allowed to continue playing and in the end even raised the highest amount of the night with an incredible 125,000 euros to benefit RTL’s telethon for children in need. Hallelujah, someone might be screaming.
