Will the Senate follow the National Assembly and vote for the generalization of Nutri-Score, a rating label from A to E that provides information about the nutritional composition of food products? Almost two weeks after the National Assembly approved the obligation to display this logo, senators are taking turns preparing to debate Nutri-Score as part of the examination in the session of the Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS) of 2026. The generalization of Nutri-Score has gone through several stages: namely in the National Assembly, on the night of November 7 to 8, when the device was voted against the opinions of the rapporteur and the government; and the Senate Social Affairs Committee, which rejected an amendment to remove the rapporteur general, Elisabeth Doineau (Centrist Union).
“I note that the rapporteur has not re-filed a deletion amendment for the public session, nor have other senators filed a deletion amendment for the public session.noted Bernard Jomier, senator from Paris (Socialist, Ecological and Republican Group) and vice president of the Social Affairs Committee. This suggests that debate will begin on the modalities of generalization, but there is some form of consensus regarding the principles of generalization. »
