Eintracht Frankfurt Coach Dino Toppmöller sees goalkeeper Michael Zetterer as a contender for a place on the German national football team. “If you look at how stable he plays, how quickly he finds his way in a new environment, plus his performance over the last few years, then he is clearly a candidate for the national team,” said the Eintracht coach ahead of the away match on the eleventh Bundesliga matchday against 1. FC Cologne, Saturday (18.30/Sky).
Zetterer moved from Werder Bremen to Frankfurt in the summer – and was initially planned as number two. After Kauã Santos of Brazil made several mistakes and conceded several goals, Zetterer became number one.
Since then, the 30-year-old has regularly put in convincing performances, as he did at his previous station in Bremen. However, national coach Julian Nagelsmann is not enough to be nominated.
