A man was charged in Côtes-d’Armor with the rape of a child in the care of his mother, a nanny

He denied the allegations against him. A 41-year-old man was charged and jailed on Thursday for the rape and sexual abuse of young children in the care of his mother, a nanny at Côtes-d’Armor, the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor’s office announced on Friday.

The investigation began in July following a mother’s complaint of sexual abuse perpetrated against her young son by the son of his babysitter, Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor Julien Wattebled said in a press release.

His mother is 62 years old

Seven children, aged three to eight, reported “rape and sexual abuse” during the investigation, which was carried out by the Tréguier gendarmerie and Lannion’s research section, the same source said.

“Some children also reported acts of violence committed by their child’s caregivers,” added Julien Wattebled.

The forty-year-old man and his mother, aged 62, were detained by police this Wednesday and they “deny the facts alleged against them”. His son was charged Thursday with “rape” and “sexual abuse” of a minor and placed in pre-trial detention.

The mother will be “summoned later with a view to possible indictment” for “violence” against a minor “by a person in authority” and “failure to report a crime,” according to prosecutors.
