Marius Müller-Westernhagen: That’s why the rocker wrote children’s songs | Entertainment

Berlin – It doesn’t sound “sexy”, but there’s still a lot of feeling in it! German rock icon Marius Müller-Westernhagen (76) ventures into new territory – and writes for children for the first time.

With his wife Lindiwe Suttle-WesternhagenGirl Sarah “Mimi” Müller-Westernhagen (known as musician Reema) and South African musician Heidi Joubert (38) created the enchanting children’s song “Naya”. It’s not made for stadiums. But it can be a hit in kindergarten.

The Westernhagen children’s songs were created as a family project

Because “Naya” is not just any children’s song: it is a family production full of emotion, message and musical skill. The song is based on Lindiwe’s successful children’s book “Naya” (Carlsen Verlag). Tells the story of a little girl who learns to be strong and accept herself. The main message: It doesn’t matter whether you are praised or ridiculed – true strength comes from within.

Westhagen himself contributed the German text. His first work in this genre. The English version is sung by Naya (12), her little niece, after whom the song is named. “It’s about encouraging kids – and us adults too,” Lindiwe said.

The musician and author has inspired many over the years with his interactive readings at daycare centers, where children can dance, sing and empathize. The message: Music and stories can make the younger generation strong. “We want to show that self-respect and friendship are the most important things you can give a child.”
