The Belgian young man successfully defended his thesis at the University of Antwerp, last Monday.
At the age of 15, Laurent Simons shone with his talent. The young Belgian defended his thesis at the University of Antwerp last Monday and boasts a doctorate in quantum physics. “I am probably the youngest person in the world to obtain a doctorate,” he proudly told Het Laatste Nieuws media.
It had to be said that the teenager was precocious. He began his university career at the age of 10, when children his age were just entering high school. Far from wanting to rest on his laurels, Laurent Simons will continue his doctoral studies, but this time in the field of “medicine focused on artificial intelligence”.
“A field that has nothing to do with physics,” the teenager’s father confirmed to Het Laatste Nieuws. Laurent Simons is interested in many things, including “everything related to cyborgs” and “how to improve the human body using technology.”
His biggest dream? Create “superhumans” and “allow people to live longer.” An ambition that had caught his attention. “It’s true that a very rich investor contacted me,” the young man admitted. But before starting any project, he had to complete another doctorate. This will take “another year and a half to two years.”
