Hertha BSC is on the rise! The Berlin team managed to draw 1-0 (0-0) against Eintracht Braunschweig and set an upward trend in 2nd league advanced. With their 5th competitive win in a row (which hasn’t happened since 2001), Hertha moves up to 4th for now.
Initially there was no sign of Berliners at the Olympic Stadium. Hertha were completely harmless offensively in the first half, the relegation-threatened visitors had the best chances. With four possibilities, Braunschweig almost failed. The Lower Saxons repeatedly appeared dangerous in front of the capital club’s goal with fine crosses.
Hertha coach Stefan Leitl (48) raged on the sidelines because of his team’s sluggish performance.
Things suddenly got better in the second half: Fabian Reese was allowed a cross from the left in his free time, Marten Winkler headed the ball past two Braunschweig defenders – 1-0 (56). Third goal of the season for the winger and sixth assist for the captain, making him the team’s top scorer.
Luckily for Hertha thanks to VAR intervention
Herta then continue to apply pressure and take command. Luck: When Bell crossed Bell’s cross and Linus Gechter parried the ball in the penalty area with his back and arms, referee Bacher initially pointed to the penalty spot, but according to TV images, he overturned the decision (86th).
Reese: “It wasn’t our best game, but another mature performance. And again we got a zero with a bit of luck.” Paul Seguin: “Fifth game in a row without conceding, a win, which boosts confidence. We have to keep playing like that.”
