The first snowfall and the cold snap already in the mountains are a joy for those involved in the Catalan resorts, especially in Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000, where we expect an excellent new season.
In 2024-2025, Altiservice, which operates the area, achieved a record turnover of 18 million euros. “This is even a national record if we take into account the operated ski area, which is 45 km of slopes,” estimates Anne Marty, general director of Altiservice, which also operates Saint Lary in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
But this record may not last long. For next season, even before the opening set on December 5, the reservation scores are already very good. “We are 25% ahead in terms of ticket purchases and we see the same anticipatory movement for ski lessons, as do the very successful 300 ski lockers. As for accommodation. This means that our customers, 35% of whom are Spanish, are motivated to come to the mountains this winter,” explains Jacques Alvarez, director of the resort.
Discover good practice and cross-country skiing
Among the new features for this winter 2025-2026, Font Romeu Pyrénées 2000 continues to develop areas intended for beginners, both children and adults.
After the successful opening of the first “beginner” area at Les Airelles in December 2024, here is the second area consisting of gentle slopes and two lifts. This equipment allows you to complete the first descent safely, without fear of being hit by a skier at high speed in the anti-stress area. “Family demand is very high and this allows learning with customized packages,” continued Jacques Alvarez.
The “neoskier” system comes with space to discover good practices and safety on the slopes. Still in the Airelles sector, this winter will be a must for ski schools. It mainly includes an educational radar that allows you to assess your speed. Finally, in the Calme sector, another type of educational and learning space will allow you to discover, this time, the practice of cross-country skiing.
Something to keep you busy even without skiing
In addition to this new device, the toboggan run in Bolquère (Pyrénées-Orientales) is eagerly awaited after its phenomenal success this summer (49,000 runs), as is the super zip line installed in the Calme sector.
“We see increasingly diverse winter visitor activities,” stressed Antonin Hug, first deputy at the town hall of Bolquère, a commune associated with Font-Romeu that operates the ski area. “They spend less time on the slopes in a day to enjoy activities with friends or family. Remember that one in two winterers at our resorts do not practice downhill skiing. »
To further encourage tourists to explore the powder, the beginner package, priced at 12.50 euros for one day, gives access to five lifts distributed between the Airelles area on gondola arrival and the Pyrénées 2000 beginner area in Bolquère. Just enough to get used to your skis without stress.
