Milan 21 starts tomorrow morning at 8.45 from Viale Eginardo. More than 15 thousand runners will take part in the increasingly popular FollowYourPassion half marathon (last year there were 11 thousand athletes competing). A “sold out” marking the success of a challenge that will be run over a half marathon of 21 kilometers but also over a shorter distance of 10,000 meters. The centerpiece of the festival is City Life with its headquarters, which last year was in the Mico exhibition pavilion, but is now occupied by works for
Olympic skating rink, on the legendary site of the Vigorelli velodrome. We will touch on the city’s iconic landmarks, Corso Sempione and Sempione park with the always enchanting Piazza del Cannone and Castello Sforzesco, before continuing on to Porta Volta, Porta Venezia, the most central Via Senatoro, Via Manzoni and Piazza Scala. Then again towards Piazza San Babila kilometer 11 and again towards Porta Venezia via the inner ring road. Piazza Tricolore passes at the 13th kilometer, Piazza Cinque Giornate, Porta Romana, Porta Lodovica, Porta Ticinese, Darsena, Porta Vercellina at the 18th kilometer and returns to the arrival area. Among the many new features, the one that attracts the most attention is the big concert of Rockin’1000, the Official Music Partner of the event, which for the first time will accompany the race along the route with 10 bands and 250 musicians spread across 11 different music points in the city.
The concert is open because, unlike in this case, the races will be exciting and foreign language considering the more than 7 thousand athletes from 50 foreign countries who explain, better than anything, how interesting Milan is from a sporting point of view but above all, from a tourist point of view.
The top runners who will compete on the ultrafast track have been announced.
The spotlight is especially on the two Italian champions: Yohanes Chiappinelli (CS Carabinieri), the Italian marathon record holder with a sensational time of 2h05’24 at Valencia 2024 and the Olympian Giovanna Epis (CS Carabinieri), who is aiming for an encore in the half marathon, thanks to the experience accumulated last year when she won in 1h12’48.
