Words are difficult. And show concern for the G20. This Saturday morning, at the opening of the forum’s 20th summit in Johannesburg (South Africa), Emmanuel Macron expressed his doubts about the future of the grouping of countries.
According to him, the G20 is experiencing “many difficulties in resolving” the current international crisis and is “at risk” of setbacks due to a lack of collective remobilization on “some priorities”.
“End of a cycle”?
“The G20 may be arriving at the end of a cycle (…) We are experiencing a moment in our geopolitics where we are having great difficulty in resolving major international crises at this table, together, including with members who are not present today,” he said at the opening of the 20th summit, which was boycotted by Donald Trump.
“We must all be clear about the fact that the G20 is at risk if we do not collectively mobilize to achieve several priorities,” he added.
