War in Ukraine: Kyiv announces “consultations” with America regarding a “future peace agreement” with Moscow

A meeting between Ukraine and America is being prepared. It will take place soon in Switzerland. At the center of the discussion was Donald Trump’s plan to end the war with Russia.

“In the coming days, we will launch consultations in Switzerland between senior Ukrainian and American officials on possible parameters of a future peace agreement,” Roustem Oumerov, chairman of Ukraine’s Security Council, said on Facebook.

“New stage of dialogue”

“Ukraine is approaching this process with a clear understanding of its interests. This is a new stage in the dialogue that has been ongoing for several days and is primarily aimed at aligning our vision of the next steps,” he added.

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday signed a decree creating a delegation for talks with Washington and Moscow. According to the decision, the delegation will be led by the president’s right-hand man, Presidential Chief Andriï Iermak, and will include, among others, Roustem Oumerov, heads of security and intelligence agencies, as well as the chief of staff. Or basically a military delegation.

The American plan is viewed with concern by Kyiv

On Friday, President Zelensky rejected American plans to end the nearly four-year-old Russian invasion and assured that he would try to suggest alternative solutions to Washington. The text is seen as causing concern in Kyiv because it includes some of the main demands made by Russia, including ceding territory by Ukraine and reducing the size of its army.

This announcement was made when Emmanuel Macron met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss America’s plans for Ukraine. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, which was also boycotted by Donald Trump.
