Medical emergency during a second division match in Düsseldorf
There was a medical emergency in the stands during Düsseldorf’s second division match against Magdeburg. The fans agreed to stop supporting for now.
There was a medical emergency in the stands during the second division match between Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Magdeburg. Fortuna informed this shortly before the match started. “The affected fan is now on his way to hospital after receiving first aid,” the club said.
Fans are waiting for news about those affected
Unlike other football stadiums, this one remained quiet even after the first twelve minutes. “The spectator was taken to hospital in critical condition. Both fan camps agreed not to continue support until the person was stable,” wrote Fortuna on X.
This weekend, fans at other stadiums protested against security measures planned by politicians at German stadiums.
In the previous season, a second division match between Düsseldorf and Magdeburg was completely ruled out due to the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg taking place that evening. Last December, a nine-year-old child and five women were killed in the attack, and more than 300 other people were injured.
