Madonna di Campiglio opens the ski season early – Il Tempo

Milan, November 22 (askanews) – The ski season arrives early at Madonna di Campiglio. The drop in temperature and heavy snowfall in recent days has made it possible for the first slopes to open on Saturday 22 November. Therefore, about 2 thousand skiers (out of a total of 5 thousand expected throughout the weekend) took advantage of a beautiful sunny day to reach the Grostè pass by cable car, in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, and enjoy the first taste of winter from a natural terrace that from a height of 2,500 meters above sea level offers stunning views of the mountains, it is not surprising that it was declared a UNESCO heritage site.

“Today we opened the Grostè area with 3 or 4 lifts and several slopes – explains Bruno Felicetti, general director of Funivie Madonna di Campiglio -, but from the 28th we will open all the other areas of the Madonna Campiglio, and from December 4 the connection with Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marilleva will reach a total of more than 100 km of slopes ready to overlook Sant’Ambrogio, and then for Christmas 100% of the 150 km of slopes”.

Madonna di Campiglio is the first ski resort in Italy to implement a limited number of ski passes: “This year the absolute novelty is the ‘ideal number’: at the peak of the season, therefore, New Year’s Eve, Carnival, from 28 December to 5 January and from 15 to 22 February we will introduce the maximum number of daily SkiArea ski passes on sale – says the manager -. This is to keep the number of skiers present on the slopes at the same time within certain limits. However, there are no limits for those who have tickets multi-day, seasonal ski pass or PayperUse card: a way to achieve quality, guarantee greater safety and the opportunity for everyone to ski on less visited and less crowded slopes”.

The project called “Numero Ideale” is just one of the innovations introduced this year to guarantee the best ski conditions. “Latest news: reappearing slopes – Felicetti’s bottom line -. At midday we will close one of our slopes, Vagliana, we will beat it new with a snowcat, and then at one o’clock we will reopen with perfectly maintained slopes. So even those who arrive late on the slopes can enjoy the first ski on the slopes. During peak periods, always on New Year’s Eve and Carnival, we will open the lifts an hour earlier, to give those who want the opportunity to do 3-4 hours of intense skiing and then make room for those who came later.”

Thanks to the connection with Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marrileva, in the Madonna di Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Ski Area it is possible to ski with one ski pass at 3 different locations, with a total of 155 km of perfectly snow-covered slopes, 104 tracks, 58 latest generation ski lifts and 4 snow parks. A paradise for snow lovers, it is no coincidence that it is recognized with 5 stars – the maximum possible score – as the number one location in Italy and among the top 10 globally by Skiresort.info, the international portal that measures the quality of ski destinations around the world.

The first skiers of the season were enthusiastic to say the least:

“I am from Forlì, I have come from Romagna since March 1977 and I will never stop coming here, because for me this is my paradise”.

“Here we go, we’re back. The snow has arrived, and also the opening of our facilities at last. It’s always great to ski at home, let’s enjoy the day”.

“I come from Trento, I’m here for the opening of the slopes: what a beautiful, spectacular day.”

“I’m from Modena, the season has finally opened again. Congratulations to Madonna who always manages to open earlier than expected.”

“I come from Cervia: congratulations to Campiglio which reopens first. Beautiful”.
