After a heavy defeat against South Africa (17-32) and a tough success against Fiji (34-21), the French XV returned to Australia as part of the autumn test, Saturday 22 November, at the Stade de France. Progress is expected. It was even promised by coach Fabien Galthié. The challenge is not only to perform better, but also to maintain top seed status for the 2027 World Cup draw on December 3. The Tricolores must avoid a defeat of 16 points or more that would see them drop to 7th in the world rankings.

For this occasion, some adjustments were made. Used in No. 4 weeks ago, Charles Ollivon returned to flanker and Gaël Fickou returned to center. Absent against Fiji, Thibaut Flament and Emmanuel Meafou will be present in the second row. Enough return to secure a third successive success against the Wallabies at the Stade de France?
