The new structure of the national cycling team until 2028 has been launched with the appointment of Elia Viviani as Track and Road Team Manager and Roberto Amadio as Elite road Coach, thus allowing Marco Villa to concentrate on the women’s time trial and track sectors. That is the main news of the Federal Council meeting held today, Saturday 22 November.

President Cordiano Dagnoni was satisfied: ”I welcome Elia Viviani on behalf of the entire movement, who joins the Technical Structure in a role that will allow him to make his great experience available to the national team. We have assigned Roberto Amadio as elite road coach, to allow Marco Villa, as expected, to concentrate on the two sectors (time trial and women’s track) in which Italy places a lot of hope from an Olympic perspective. I am convinced that this new structure will enable each CT to work more profitably in a group that, as demonstrated at the start of my first mandate, moves and thinks like one team.” Elia Viviani said: “I am pleased with the trust placed in me by the Federal Council and I look forward to fulfilling the assigned tasks. The Federation has been my home as an athlete for many years, this role will be a challenge for me, but most importantly an opportunity to grow and learn as a manager.”

While Marco Villa added: ”I accepted the role of elite road coach knowing that it would last for a year, the time needed to reorganize the sector with a broader perspective than one season. On several occasions I was reminded of how time trials and tracks are important commitments that require appropriate effort. The 2028 Olympics are not far away and it is appropriate that we focus all our attention on these two strategic sectors”. Meanwhile, Roberto Amadio: ”It is a great honor for me to lead the national team. Let’s start again from the excellent placement of this season and from some young players who are increasingly maturing. I thank the CF for their trust.” Another change was the incorporation of the junior road sector, both road and time trial, under the direction of Edoardo Salvoldi.
