with “Dossier 137”, “I wanted this film to shed some light on the victims of police violence”

This Wednesday in November, we met director Dominik Moll in Paris to talk about police violence and the “yellow vests”, on the occasion of the release of his film, File 137, which followed an investigation by the National Police Inspectorate General (IGPN). This, in the heart of the 11th arrondissement patrolled by police in the 10th arrondissement commemoration of the attacks that hit Paris.

How do you document the work of “police cop” investigators?

On the contrary to Night of the 12th (2022)which is based on an investigative book, there is everything to create. There are no works of fiction or documentaries on IGPN. Beyond my reading, it was important for me to immerse myself in the institution. I was able to interact with investigators to understand the specifics and difficulties of this profession. And then there were other meetings – a lawyer who defends victims of police violence, another who specializes in defending police officers, judges, and also victims’ families. I spent one day of demonstrations in the command center at police headquarters and another day in the field with law enforcement officers. I want to have as broad a vision as possible.
