Premier League: Newcastle makes Pep go berserk | sport

One game, two winners!

Newcastle United battled to a 2-1 win over Manchester City after two consecutive defeats. This not only pleased Newcastle, but also league leaders Arsenal FC. He can extend his lead over the “Citizens” to seven points if he wins against Tottenham tomorrow. City even dropped back to third place due to bankruptcy.

The game is live in the early stages. Barnes (1st minute) missed a 100% chance for Newcastle, while Haaland (3rd minute) missed a huge chance to take the lead at ManCity.

Woltemade (13/26), however, missed twice from City goalkeeper Donnarumma. He recently performed better in World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg (2-0) and Slovakia (6-0).

▶︎ 30th minute: A sharp, low cross from Murphy to Barnes, who pushed it through the empty net. Newcastle left too much behind against the “Skyblues”.

After the break, Manchester took more control of the game. The result: the tempo was reduced significantly, so that Newcastle almost never got into goal-threatening situations.

▶︎ 63rd minute: 1-0 Newcastle! The “Magpies” took the lead from nowhere. Barnes and Guimaraes work together in midfield. Barnes was able to finish from a distance of 18 meters without being stopped by Donnarumma. Of all people, Barnes, after failing miserably twice in the first half.

Pep Guardiola served. The Spaniard beats the drum furiously in the dugout. But five minutes later he was calm again. After a corner kick, defensive star Ruben Dias (68) scored the equaliser.

The city is now running. But Newcastle’s central defense around German international Malick Thiaw held firm.

This surprising victory put Newcastle back in lurking position and are now five points behind fourth-place Crystal Palace.
