NRW: Frankfurt hooligans attack bus with Stuttgart fans | Area

Siegburg (NRW) – Cars raced towards the A3 Siegburg West stop and stopped next to a bus with VfB Stuttgart fans. Masked hooligans from Eintracht Frankfurt jumped out, dragged VfB supporters out of buses and beat them. The bus driver had to flee an angry mob across the highway with at least one person injured.

After Eintracht’s win in Cologne (4:3) and Stuttgart’s draw in Dortmund (3:3), the fans of both teams headed home south on Saturday evening. At around 9pm, Stuttgart supporters took a break at the Siegburg West service station next to the A3. They didn’t make it to the gas station store.

According to witnesses, the bus was surrounded by large taxis and several private vehicles. Masked people jumped out. “At around 21.12 we received information that there had been a fight between fans from Frankfurt and Stuttgart at the rest area,” a police leader from Cologne confirmed to BILD on Sunday morning. Several highway police patrols departed and also brought in reinforcements from riot police.

Fans’ buses were attacked with bottles and fireworks

When the police arrived, the blitz was over. Witnesses told officers that around 40 masked hooligans in Frankfurt initially threw bottles and fireworks at the Stuttgart bus.

Therefore, Stuttgart residents were dragged out of the double-decker bus. Hooligans allegedly kicked a fan who was lying on the ground until he was unconscious. Another Stuttgart resident pulled his injured friend back onto the bus. The driver eventually drove off with the damaged door and saved himself and his passenger.
