Ukraine, today’s EU-US-Ukraine meeting in Geneva: latest news

Diplomacy is underway today in Geneva, where representatives of European countries will participate in talks with the United States and Ukraine regarding the peace plan proposed by the US: for Italy, the Prime Minister’s diplomatic adviser, Fabrizio Saggio, who left his G20 job early, will be present. But tomorrow, EU leaders have held an extraordinary meeting on Ukraine with 27 EU leaders, on the sidelines of the EU-African Union summit in Luanda.

Rubio: “The plan written by the US, this is not Moscow’s wish list”

“The peace plan was written by the United States.” Therefore, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio tried to quell the controversy that erupted in Washington after several Republican senators designated the 28-point draft to end the war in Ukraine as a kind of “Russian wish list.”

Rubio, who landed in Geneva this morning to discuss the document with Ukrainian and European officials, said the proposal was “based on Russian and Ukrainian input” but remained “originally American.” The clarification came after Republican Senator Mike Rounds, speaking at the Halifax Security Forum, reported that Rubio had told him the draft “is not an American proposal”, adding that the text would be passed to Trump envoy Steve Witkoff by representatives from Moscow. Rounds’ words were branded a “blatant lie” by State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott, while Rubio himself returned to social media to confirm that the “peace proposal was drafted by the United States.”
