A man wanted on an arrest warrant injured a police officer with his car in a supermarket parking lot in Hildesheim and fled. The wanted man was identified by a witness Saturday evening POLICE announced. When a police patrol wanted to check on him, the 31-year-old man overturned his car and hit a 25-year-old police officer in the leg. The officer then tried to stop the man by reaching into an open window, but the person he was looking for sped forward and dragged the police officer several meters before falling. The driver managed to escape. Initial searches were unsuccessful.
The police officer was taken to hospital, but has since been able to leave. However, he was initially unfit for duty. According to police, the supermarket parking lot was busy at the time of the crime. Therefore, witnesses are asked to contact the police Hildesheim to report.
Police could not say Sunday why there was a warrant for the 31-year-old’s arrest. He was reportedly alone in the car at the time of the incident.
